I meant to post the lyrics too but totally forgot.
I am woman my name is frailty
For that’s the name you gave me
This is my voice
But these are your words
Written in your language
If I could scream it would be anguish
But I know I’m not allowed to
So I’ll sing my revolution
And cry my tears
Silently
My voice is my weapon
And I’ll drive it hard
My voice is my knife
And I’ll drive it harder
Well this is my knife
And I’ll drive it harder than you did me
Is this how you did my mother
Drowned her dignity
Between the sheets
Chorus:
Well blood can cover blood
That tears can’t wash away
And hate can cover hate
That tears can’t wash away
And blood can cover blood
That tears can’t wash away
Your blood can cover her blood
And her blood and her blood
And this is our revenge
Well you call me bitch, slut, witch, whore
Cutey, sweetie, honey-pie
Sexy baby, foxy lady
Frigid, rigid, chicky babe
These are the words you use to describe me
These are the words you use to disarm me
These are the words you use to love me
These are the words you used to use me
Chorus
Well this is your woman
Does it bring you pleasure?
Well this is your body
Does it bring you pleasure?
Well this is my voice
And these are my words
And this is my heart
And this is my soul
And this is my blood
Does it bring you pleasure?
Your blood can cover her blood
And her blood
And my blood
And this is our revenge
My voice is my revenge

And Tracy Chapman, for that matter. So anything that reminds me of her is good in my books! Hell, if you worked out some way to *sing* your opinion essays, i’d probably agree with you 25% more.
Thanks helzeph, sparkle and pisaquari. Much appreciated.
I love Tracy Chapman too, fop. I’ll have to keep your suggestion about my essays in mind. I’ll convert everyone to radical feminism by singing at them. Hmm. Not a bad idea!!
Wow, allecto. Is there anything you can’t do? I’m just sorry it took such a horrible incident (and of course, centuries of patriarchal control) to lead to such a beautiful song.
I second the recommendation to convert people to radical feminism through song. Music is a far more powerful tool for reaching the common human than well-reasoned essays and logic.
Thanks Chris. Yeah, the situation/s that lead to this song were really screwed. I don’t know why but every song I have ever written is really depressing. But I have a fairly mournful voice so I guess it suits.
Well. I’m happy to just write good songs and hope that people can relate to them. I’ll leave conversion to the popes and priests.

That’s great to see you in a video, Allecto. And you sing so well!
I wrote it a couple of years ago after a friend was raped.
Do you have the lyrics? They’re beautiful and I’d love to read them as well.
